On the 30th of April, 2025, this very year, at Upendo Children’s Home Uganda, we had a very special day that we will never forget.

Our Sunday school teacher, Auntie Susan, who lives all the way in the United Kingdom, joined us for an online session. Even though she is far, her love and care reached us through the screen — and we were so happy to see her!
The day started with a beautiful prayer by one of our children. It was so lovely to see a child open the session by talking to God. It made our hearts full of joy.

Then Auntie Susan began teaching us how to make headbands using simple materials.

The children followed her steps carefully — some tied, some glued, some even added colour and design. Everyone was excited to learn, and we had so much fun.

After making the headbands, we used them to act out the story of Pentecost — the day when Jesus’ disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. The children were very involved. They acted as the disciples and used their headbands to show the power and fire of the Holy Spirit coming upon them. It was both fun and full of meaning. The room was filled with excitement and joy!
After the drama, the children did some dancing to praise God. Their faces were shining with happiness. We clapped, we moved, we sang — all with thankful hearts.
At the end of the session, Auntie Susan prayed for all the children. She asked God to bless them, guide them, and fill them with wisdom and joy. It was a peaceful and powerful moment.
We are so thankful to Auntie Susan for giving her time and love to us. Even from far away, she made us feel close and special. The children learnt new skills, grew in faith, and had a wonderful time.

Thank you, Auntie Susan. Thank you to everyone who supports Upendo Children’s Home. Together, we are giving these children love, hope, and a brighter future.

With love from all of us at Upendo!
